For simplicity, there are two types of free kicks awarded if the opponent fouls and no advantage is given. Advantage is created if an opponent fouls, but by stopping play the other team would be at a more disadvantage as they ended up with the ball.
The two types of kicks are "Direct" and "Indirect."
A direct free kick is a score if it goes directly into the goal with or without touching another player.
An indirect free kick MUST first touch another player (from either team, including the keeper) to count as a score.
If the ball goes out of play before touching another player, the indirect free kick condition ends.
